On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, Councilors joined local leaders to welcome U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg as he announced a $10 million grant from the $1.2 trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This money will be used to reconstruct West 51st Street to neighborhoods in West Tulsa that were divided when U.S. Highway 75 was built. The project is one of the six infrastructure projects in the state to receive federal funding as part of the 2021 passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law championed by President Joe Biden.
