Lori Decter Wright is in her fourth term on the Tulsa City Council representing southeast Tulsa’s District 7 and was the 2022 Council Chair. A Tulsan by choice, Councilor Decter Wright has called Tulsa home for more than 15 years.
Prior to moving to Tulsa, Lori and her husband were professional opera singers based in Silicon Valley. Lori is an award-winning singer and has performed with world-class opera companies and symphonies across the United States and overseas. She served on the Board of Directors for Tulsa Opera before being appointed as the General Director and CEO in October 2023. She has also formerly served as a Trustee for the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
Lori formerly served as the Executive Director of Kendall Whittier Incorporated (KWI), a community-based nonprofit organization founded in 1968 that is focused on food insecurity. KWI operates the only emergency food pantry in Tulsa that delivers groceries to doors five days a week, 52 weeks a year. KWI also sponsors two organic community gardens that connect children and their families to healthy, fresh food while enforcing STEAM concepts learned in their classrooms.
Before joining the staff at KWI, Lori served as Director of Education and Membership for Sweet Adelines International, a nonprofit association for women founded in Tulsa in 1948. During her seven years on the Executive Management Team, Lori helped lead the multi-million dollar organization to innovate new methods for delivering education, programming and member benefits to its 23,000 members worldwide. She also strengthened its youth outreach programs and assisted communities across the globe with empowering young women through music education.
